Subject: O'Reilly Books Translated to Spanish
From: Pep Diz
Hello,
A few days ago, I saw some O'Reilly books translated into Spanish in
Anaya Multimedia's catalog. I
knew about Spanish tranlations of O'Reilly books through
McGraw-Hill, so I was very surprised to
see those books at Anaya, too. Since I think O'Reilly books are some of the
best books on the market (if not simply the best) and that they are very well
structured, clearly written, and have a lot of useful information
(not to mention the cool covers), I'm really very interested in the
availability of O'Reilly titles in the Spanish language. Is O'Really in
negotiations with Anaya or any other Spanish-language publishers to deal with
the Spanish market? Is there any kind of agreement?
Best Regards,
Pep
Hello Pep,
I am the international rights and licensing manager for O'Reilly. First,
thanks for your interest and kind words about our books. It is always
nice to hear such things from customers.
Regarding Spanish language editions of our books, we are
working with Anaya on a "rights" sale basis, as we have in
the past with McGraw-Hill. What this means is that they
purchase the rights on a title-by-title basis. Our
Sample Translation Rights
Agreement may give you a better sense of the contract.
If you are interested in knowing what other O'Reilly books
will be forthcoming in Spanish,
Anaya's Web site is a good
place to check.
And feel free to contact them for help in determining local availability
and pricing.
Best wishes,
Cindy Wetterlund
